The 35,000-seat, horseshoe-shaped stadium opened in 1929. Named for the legendary Duke football coach in 1967, Wallace Wade is the only stadium outside of Pasadena, Calif., ever to host the Rose Bowl. The eight-lane, Olympic-sized 400-meter track that rings the football field is home to Duke‘s track and field teams and has hosted NCAA championships, Pan Africa-USA meets and the annual Duke Invitational, which attracts top collegiate competition from across the nation.
